As we enter 2023, it is tradition to make New Year's Resolutions. Like getting more exercise, seeing loved ones more often, and finding new hobbies. Some people love New Year’s Resolutions and the possibilities they bring for change, and others don’t find as much use for them. Either way, it's always a great time to set goals for the next step that you want to take. MiniMUN is so excited for the new year and new opportunities to share our vision with more students and schools. 2023 is the year of more!
Without further ado, here are our 2023 New Year's Resolutions.
1. Create more
We want to expand our curriculum even more. We draw from established sources on Model UN and global issues and create original lesson plans. The MiniMUN curriculum develops public speaking, presentation, collaboration, problem-solving, research, analysis, critical thinking skills, global citizenship, sustainability knowledge, confidence, reading, writing, and creativity. We have curriculums on United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 7 (clean energy & school sustainability) and 11 (disaster relief). Soon we will have curriculums on UN SDG 2 (zero hunger), UN SDG 5 (gender equality), and UN SDG 14 (clean water).
2. Partner more
We have 15+ partners across the country and internationally. We hope to find even more schools this year! If you are interested in using our program, fill out this form.
You can even start your very own MiniMUN chapter! Fill out this form to get access to the entire package to begin.
Together, we can reach even more and bring diplomacy, confidence, and global citizenship to students through Model-UN based education.
3. Recruit more
With more people on our team, we can do more, reach more, and make a bigger impact. We are looking for volunteers and more members of our executive board. Volunteers have lower time commitments than board members. You can pick one of the three categories to work on.
Curriculum: develop new materials based on the SDG topic of your interest, plan activities, create worksheets, think critically about impact in the classroom
Outreach: work directly with our partners to implement MiniMUN, establish collaborations with new partners, recruit new members, website maintenance, social media
Finance: help out with 501c3 process, identify financial needs, manage grant processes
